Muggia is an Italian municipality in the province of Trieste. In 1999 my parents returned to Italy. They have settled in Muggia and are enjoying their well-deserved retirement.
Because of the constant looting by robbers from the hinterland, the inhabitants of Muggia moved from the hill of the old Castrum Muglae to the seashore, where today’s small town still lies.
Since the end of the Cold War and Slovenia’s integration into the EU in 2004, Muggia has once again become a lively tourist and commercial centre.
